Mrs. Akridge entered the healthcare field after attending Certified Nurses Aide classes at Jefferson College in 2006. Since then, she has obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from St. Louis University, as well as completing her certification as a medical and surgical nurse. Mrs. Akridge is currently pursuing her Masters of Science in Nursing Education. Mrs. Akridge has worked in the acute care setting for over 10 years, and is excited to share her clinical reasoning and knowledge with the nursing students of Jefferson College.

Ms. Fry has been a nurse for almost 10 years and has experience in medical surgical nursing, telemetry, and the operating room. Ms. Fry graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College. She is currently working on a MSN in Education and cannot wait to share her knowledge with the new nursing students.

Ms. Gass graduated from the University of Missouri St. Louis with a Bachelors in Nursing in 2004. She completed the NICU fellowship at Mercy St. Louis and worked in the NICU, PICU, Pediatric Medical Floor and Mother/Baby for 13 years. She also has 2 years` experience working in a PACU and taught Fundamental and Pediatric clinicals for Jefferson College this past year. Emily is excited to share her knowledge with all of the students.

Mrs. Harris began working in healthcare as a certified nurse`s aide at the age of 18. She later returned to school as a non-traditional student, graduating cum laude from Jefferson College with an Associate`s Degree in Nursing. After working several years in various areas of nursing and as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, Mrs. Harris received her Master`s Degree in Nursing Education in 2012 and returned to Jefferson College as an Assistant Professor of Nursing in 2013, teaching in the practical nursing program and in the registered nursing program in 2017. Mrs. Harris is currently completing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice with a focus in leadership and management. Mrs. Harris` organizational affiliations include: Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, National League of Nursing, Missouri League of Nursing, and the St. Louis Area Deans and Directors Group.

Barbara Haynes

Mrs. Haynes, originally a Diploma RN, subsequently received a BSN from Chamberlain University, and completed an MSN-Ed from McKendree University. She also serves as the Level II/RN Coordinator. She has extensive experience in cardiology and ICU, Cardiac catheterization lab, Medical-Surgical nursing and Home Health, and carries certifications in Parish Nursing and Holistic Nutrition. She serves as a licensed minister and as the head nurse of a medical mission team, taking teams to third-world countries to provide medical care.

Amy McDaniel

Mrs. McDaniel began her career in the healthcare field in 1994 as a certified nurse aide. She then pursued a career in massage therapy and worked as a licensed massage therapist until 2007. She returned to school as a non-traditional student and is a 2009 Jefferson College nursing alumna. She obtained her BSN with Chamberlain College where she graduated cum laude with Presidential Honors in 2012, and completed her MSN degree in education graduating cum laude in 2017. Her nursing background is medical/surgical nursing, outpatient surgery, surgical intensive care, and neuro intensive care. She is passionate in the field of healthcare simulation is currently pursuing certification as a healthcare simulation educator.

April Norton Gunther

Mrs. Gunther began her teaching career in 2013. Mrs. Gunther teaches in the Level I/PN and Level II/RN programs. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she also serves as the Level I/PN Coordinator. She began her nursing career in 1996 moving from long-term care, to orthopedic nursing, oncology, disease management, care management, and finally critical care nursing. Mrs. Gunther graduated from Owens Community College, in Toledo, Ohio, in 1995 with an associate degree in nursing. She continued her education obtaining her Bachelor in Science in Nursing in 2011, and then her Master in Science of Nursing with Nursing Education focus in 2013.

Jamie Schneider

Mrs. Schneider began her nursing career at the age of 18 as a certified nurse assistant. She then returned to school as a non-traditional student and is a 2009 Jefferson College nursing alumna. She obtained her BSN from Central Methodist University and plans on completing her Master of Science in Nursing education. Her nursing background includes medical/surgical nursing, critical care (stepdown unit), vascular access team, and infection prevention and control. She loves learning and sharing her knowledge with others. Mrs. Schneider is very excited to be a part of educating generations of future nurses.

Sheryl Zysk

Ms. Zysk is a board certified Adult Nurse Practitioner. She worked at Barnes-Jewish, Mercy, in Atlanta, Georgia and Memphis, Tennessee in gynecologic oncology. She received certification as an Advance Practice Nurse in Genetics and an Advanced Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist. Ms. Zysk worked for ten years as a labor and delivery nurse and a certified childbirth educator. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in education from Missouri Baptist University. Ms. Zysk considers herself to be a facilitator of learning and feels privileged to work with nursing students.
